A 41-year-old Lawrence man, Michael Eugene Cassity, charged in Franklin County District Court with molesting an 8-year-old girl, died Saturday from an apparent heart attack. He had appeared in court last week and was to meet his lawyer on Wednesday. An autopsy was performed, with no further details released.
Philadelphia AP reports 70 year old Marie Noe pleaded guilty to eight counts of second degree murder for smothering her children from 1949 to 1968. Sentencing includes 20 years probation with first five years home confinement. Ronald L. Shanabarger, jailed in Franklin Indiana, faced a murder charge after allegedly plotting to father a child to punish his wife Amy for not cutting short a vacation. He confessed to smothering the couple’s seven month old son Tyler in his crib the night before the father’s funeral. A public defender was appointed and a trial was set for November 30.
