The Ottawa City Band performs its third concert of the year at 7:30 PM at the City Park band stand. Commissioners eye Franklin building decision looming
The commission considers purchasing the Franklin building to meet ADA aims with a 25 year city-use expectation. The First National Bank option expires in mid July and a July 6 meeting is planned to act. The parcel totals about 30,000 square feet, larger than City Hall. Lawrence voters face $36.9 million school bond proposal
The Lawrence Board of Education will ask voters in November to approve a 36.9 million bond to fund a second high school of about 230000 square feet and renovations at five elementary schools. The plan includes 25.8 million for site, construction, and furnishings and 11.1 million for mechanical, electrical, roofing and additions. Lawrence High School enrolls about 1800 students in grades ten through twelve.
