Heavy K-68 Bridge Beams Raised Over Marais des Cygnes
The first of the giant 98 foot steel beams went up on the K-68 bridge across the Marais des Cygnes River late Wednesday. Workers used a crane and rope to set beams atop bridge pilings linking Forest Park north to West Second Street south. The beams were placed below the river dike near where they were shipped to Ottawa a week earlier, as the bridge span becomes the main element in rerouting K-68 through Ottawa.
