Garnett Western Horse Show draws area riders Sunday
The Garnett Saddle Club hosts the Mid Eastern Kansas Western Horse Association show at North Lake Arena starting 10 a.m. Local riders enter halter, showmanship, trail, lead-in, barrels, poles, and team roping. Preregistration not required. nonmembers pay $3 extra office fee. Judges award ribbons and points lead to a year end banquet with belt buckles and prizes.

World War II DC-3 carries new research cargo near Lawrence
A 1942 DC-3 used to haul cargo is flying a three day joint Army EPA project with University of Kansas researchers. Student Council leaders to leadership conference at Derby High
Garnered seniors Brad Rosenfeld and Amy Carey of Anderson County High School will attend the 62nd National Association of Student Councils Conference at Derby High School from June 27 to July 1. The NASSP administered event trains student leaders in leadership, project planning, communication, and diversity. Carey, Welda, is class vice president.
