Ottawa American Legion A-team dominated with strong hitting and solid pitching, posting three wins in four games at Orls Cox Field. Turner's clutch two run homer in the eighth and Morton’s scoreless late innings fueled a 8-7 win in eight. Ottawa also took a 2-1 victory behind a four-hitter. Sunday, Bonner snapped a six-game streak, then Ottawa answered with an 8-4 win as Turner again hurled five strong innings with Morton finishing. Continuous offense backed by relentless defense and key hits from Keaton, Buck, and Turner propelled Ottawa to a 3-1-1 weekend split.

Ottawa AA Team Rallies For Weekend Win Totals
Ottawa’s American Legion AA team recovered from a rough Shawnee Saturday to go 3-1 over two days. Deron Kramer homer and Christ Turner triple sparked a 9-run second inning in a 10 a.m. loss, then Geist and Ybarra led pitching in a 5-1 win, followed by Grace pitching a 3-1 victory at Emporia and Franano tossing a four-hitter in a 9-1 finale. Now 11-13, Ottawa hosts Topeka Post 74 on Wednesday at 6:30.

Additional Ottawa qualifiers include Karrie Brockman in 17-18 long jump, Rachael Hodges in sprints, Bret Alexander in 11-12 shot put, Keith Hodges in 18-14 800, and Bryan Kelley in 13-14 shot put.
