Gunman slays mother then himself at State Department
A man entering with a folded rifle and knife shot his mother, Carole Doster, 44, and then killed himself on the seventh floor near Secretary George Shultz’s offices. Police say it stemmed from a domestic quarrel. security was under review as metal detectors were newly required for State Department visitors.
