Pomona Girl Selected for STARS Science Program
Erin Vanderford of Pomona, daughter of Bob and Brenda Vanderford, was chosen among 36 students from Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma for the 1994 Student Training Academy for Research in Science at Pittsburg State University. The Pomona Middle School student will join eighth and ninth graders in a three week program to conduct original scientific research under university professors, funded by the National Science Foundation, aiming to spark interest in science and encourage future careers. the program began June 6 and ends this Friday.
