Famous Race Driver Jimmy Bryan Killed at Langhorne
Langhorne Pa AP rugged cigar smoking Jimmy Bryan veteran auto racer who won 19 championships including the 1958 Indianapolis 500 was killed Sunday in the 100 mile National Championship Big Car race at Langhorne Speedway. The 33 year old Phoenix native began racing in 1948 and died of chest and internal injuries after his car skidded and rolled on the first lap while passing Don Branis on the lead. He was taken to Lower Bucks County Hospital where he died on arrival making him one of four auto racing deaths that weekend.
