Kuhn Voids A's Sale. Court Steps Likely Ahead
New York Commissioner Bowie Kuhn voided the 3.5 million sale of Vida Blue Rollie Fingers and Joe Rudi from Oakland to Boston and New York but warned the decision could trigger litigation. Oakland owner Charles Finley blasted the ruling while MLBPA head Marvin Miller signaled possible action. Kuhn cited maintaining public confidence and competitive equality as key reasons for voiding the deals to keep high value players from affluent clubs.
