Rockefeller Adjusts to No. 2 role with Ford
Washington AP report notes Nelson Rockefeller marking six months as vice president. He says he adapted to being the second in command while serving as a staff assistant and maintaining a close working relationship with President Ford. He downplays controversy e.g. CIA report, and cites Ford’s confidence. He insists Ford may choose his own ticket but would be fine with any decision. Reagan weighs in as potential challenger.

Police link string of Kansas City executions to robberies
City police said a theft report was filed Sunday shortly after the bodies of Pope and Mrs. Mitchell were found with multiple gunshot wounds. The killings tied to armed robberies mark the fourth and fifth such executions in the metro since June 4, with ballistics tying the same weapon to three earlier slayings this month. Two suspects, Frederick Hesser and Robert Robertson, were shot in a downtown electronics shop, and Ronald Steiger was found dead in an adult book store. Authorities canceled a general description pickup.
