Schedules Announced For Two Ottawa Leagues

Ottawa Recreation Commission director Orlis Cox announced schedules for the Ottawa Rotary Little League and Babe Ruth League beginning Monday. Age rules set eligibility: Little League ages 10 by Aug 1. Pee Wee 8 by Aug 1 with clinic instruction. Babe Ruth 13 14 and 15 not turning 16 by Sept 1, 1969. Forest Park hosts all games with numerous matchups listed for June through July and coach needs for umpires.

Pay Big For New Talent In Major League Bid War

Within 48 hours Cleveland the Cubs and St Louis joined San Francisco in a $420000 signing spree for five teenage talents. Giants paid about $170000 for two players, Chuck Peterson 11 from Tacoma and Randy Hundley 18 from Martinsville. The 60th National Open opened at Cherry Hills with Mike Souchak leading at 68 after a dramatic first round. Tommy Bolt, handed a $100 fine for conduct, withdrew after a string of lake hazards and a dramatic club toss.
