Defense Cites Drugs In Recruit's Death
In a San Diego court martial opening, Daniel Hunter argues Marine drill sergeant Harold Bronson may be responsible for Lynn McClure's death not by beating but via an overdose of streptomycin and gentamicin given at a Houston hospital. Hunter says two antibiotics could have caused the fatal brain injury, calling for Navy doctors to testify. Bronson, 30, faces assault, negligent homicide, and other charges over the December 5 pugil stick drill and McClure's death after brain surgery and coma lasting until March 13. Two other drill sergeants also face courts-martial in the case.
