Ottawa planning commissioners approved a preliminary plat and site plan for a 54 000 square foot Price Chopper supermarket at 1921 Princeton Circle Drive with 9 000 square feet of ancillary retail. The project, on 10.4 acres, includes a 320 space lot, stormwater detention, and a delivery lane between the store and a neighboring retail space. The Queen family owns Price Chopper stores in nearby cities and will operate the Ottawa store, modeled after their Bonner Springs location.
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners appointed Don Moler as interim county administrator and counselor to cover the departure of Lisa Johnson while a permanent successor is sought. Moler will be paid 4000 a month and travel from Topeka to work three days weekly, with the process potentially taking up to three months.
