Kansan gas purchase could raise KPL rates across state
Kansas Power and Light would buy 10 million cubic feet daily from Spivey-Grabs field in Kingman County at 1.85 per thousand cubic feet. The deal might push KPL costs for 40 million cubic feet daily from the same field and lift rates 25 to 40 percent. KPL counts on Spivey-Grabs for about 17 percent of its load and interruptible customers could face service cuts during peak periods. Newsmen heard Hal Hudson speak as legislators reviewed gas supply during hearings.
