County seeks delay on concealed carry bill concerns
Franklin County officials at the Wednesday commissioners meeting questioned the new concealed carry bill. County Administrator Lisa Johnson warned the bill is ambiguous and likely to be revised next session, suggesting an exemption letter to opt out through year end and possibly four more years with a safety plan. Sheriff Jeff Richards urged distributing exemption letters to local law enforcement to avoid improper enforcement and highlighted anticipated costs and changes as lawmakers revisit the bill. Chairman Steve Harris described the bill as confusing and noted it could impose financial burdens on municipalities if carried as written.
