Unemployment Insurance And Guaranteed Wages Not Alike
Washington reports that unemployment insurance and guaranteed wages differ. The CIO United Auto Workers seek wage guarantees from auto makers, pairing employer payments with UI to approach a worker’s regular take-home pay. States vary in UI duration and amounts. Ford’s plan ties guarantees to UI, offering up to 25 dollars weekly for up to 26 weeks, with take-home 65 percent briefly then 60 percent for the remainder, still not matching prior earnings.
