KC man survives nail in his skull
In Shawnee, Kansas City area, George Chandler was struck by a 2.5 inch nail fired from a nail gun during a backyard project when the hose tangled. He was taken to a hospital and a claw hammer removed the nail. He said he feels very lucky to have escaped serious injury.

Judge awards 7.25 million to pit bull attack victim
Jackson County Circuit Judge Vernon Scoville ruled that the dogs owner and other defendants were negligent in a violent pit bull attack on May 4, 2006. Alan L. Hill, mowing his Independence vacant lot, suffered severe injuries and permanent disfigurement after spending over a month on a feeding tube.
