Baptists back trends on women and family

ALT LAKE CITY AP The Southern Baptists chose Salt Lake City for their convention to evangelize Mormons yet their stance on women’s roles drew attention. The new article in the Baptist Faith and Message says a wife should submit to her husband, mirroring Mormon views on marriage. The change, first in 35 years, draws critique from Clinton and Gore. The article also defines marriage as heterosexual, while Utah politics feature battles over same sex marriage between Gov. Leavitt and A G Graham. Disney boycott over health coverage for same sex partners and Gay Days is urged by Richard Land who cites Ellen’s cancellation as proof of impact on Disney.
