Navy jets adjust Laos reconnaissance to counter antiaircraft fire
U S Navy jets are changing reconnaissance patterns over Laos to defeat Communist antiaircraft guns that have downed two carrier based jets. Adjustments may include varying approach angles, timing, formations and altitudes with possible extra fighters. If more jets are shot down, photo planes may fly higher, reducing image quality during the rainy season. The Navy handles low level reconnaissance while the Air Force operates higher altitude photo sorties, with both services sharing the workload.
