Anthrax exposure at Texas lab blamed on improper cleaning
A Texas lab failed to use bleach on anthrax vials due to label preservation worries, the CDC said. A worker contracted cutaneous anthrax in March after handling vials without gloves and touching a facial cut, while the lab used alcohol instead of bleach. The worker recovered after a five day hospital stay. 23 anthrax cases have been confirmed since Oct. 3.
