Ottawa considers sewer plan to spur development
The Ottawa City Commission will consider extending sewer service to 300 plus acres west of old U.S.50 between 17th Street and I-35. A $400000 lift station and force main would back a high pressure line to 15th Street, enabling stable upfront costs to attract developers and support housing growth of about 70 units annually for 10 years. Local banks and the O/FCED would assist in recruitment and financing as the waste water fund funds the project.

Wheat harvest starts in Kiowa after rain delay
Custom cutter Kent Braathen and his family begin the Kiowa wheat harvest as sun dries muddy fields. Farmers test moisture at grain elevators, with yields likely above average though fertilizer timing from March rains may limit gains. Local camps fill with cutters from around the world and 30 combines leased as Kiowa braces for a week to 10 days of work.
