Southwestern Bell Refund At Stake In Court Hearing
Kansas Supreme Court will hear a rate case that could affect Kansans wallets. About 10 million in refunds to Kansas customers of Southwestern Bell Telephone are at stake and future rates could rise by millions. The case began in 1959 over a 5.8 million dollar yearly rate increase and involved a district court which allowed 4.5 million more annually than the commission had approved. The decision hinges on depreciation calculations for Southwestern Bell property.
