Sunflowers Could Get Boost From New Price Support
Kansas experts say a proposed 9 dollar per hundredweight sunflower loan rate may encourage farmers to diversify into sunflowers as an alternative crop. Sunflowers, mainly grown for cooking oils, are currently less profitable than soybeans, with Kansas showing 30,000 to 35,000 acres planted. Report cites Rep. Arlan Stangeland pushing the measure within the House farm bill.
