Estrogen Linked to Uterine Cancer Rise Says Studies
Two investigations released today tie estrogen use during menopause to a sharp rise in uterine cancer among middle aged women in the 1970s. Uterine cancer increased 40 to 150 percent from 1969 to 1973, with variation by region. Researchers note rapid cancer reporting growth and link estrogen therapy to hot flashes mood and irritability relief. Dr Noel S Weiss of the University of Washington led the statistical study. Estrogen use reportedly surged to treat menopausal symptoms, with 1973 drug spending about four times higher than a decade earlier.
