Atty. Gen. Mitchell and Deputy Kleindienst led counterattacks defending police actions during the May 3 demonstrations, rebutting claims of constitutional violation. They contended 20,000 disruptors attempted to paralyze Washington, praising police for maintaining order amid mass arrests.
Fred Hermreck will take over Gambles Store in Osawatomie after 18 years with Ottawa. He buys from Nelson Madden who leaves to a new line of work. Bob Hollon leaves Ottawa for Osawatomie as assistant manager. Madden remains 30 days to assist. Families to move later.
Funeral services for Nora Edith Nitcher will be held at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home Friday at 2 00 p m with Rev Ray Nitcher and Rev David McNew officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona.
