Counseling at KSIR Faces Staff Shortages and Isolation
The Kansas State Industrial Reformatory at Hutchinson faces a severe lack of trained counselors with only one chaplain trained in psychology. Inmates receive minimal counseling, with most sessions limited to immediate issues. Budget limits and staffing gaps push reliance on untrained staff, hurting rehabilitation efforts as inmates seek confidential support and guidance.

Walker Family Honored With Croquet Trophy at Wellsville Dish Supper
Notes From Wellsville Area report a neighborhood covered dish supper on May 27 honoring the Walker family. A croquet set was presented to the Walkers, who left Wellsville Tuesday. Walker, formerly stationed at Olathe Naval Base, transferred to South Weymouth Mass. The family will spend a week in Nebraska with relatives. A City Park picnic by Wellsville Boy Scouts honored the Walkers with an engraved trophy clock reading The Walker Family from the Royal Riders, 1965. Richard Copeland, after earning a degree from Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, will begin Sunday as pastor of New Hope and Ruhamah Baptist parish, as Dr. Charles Anderson of Ottawa University has filled the pulpit since May 7. The Copelands and daughter Ruth Richelle have moved to the parish parsonage, located 314 miles north of Rantoul and a mile west. Ross Gault, lay members, and Rev. Clarence Harder attended Kansas Conference meetings in Coffeyville May 31 prior to the Methodist Church gathering Tuesday through Friday night.
