Ottawa High School clinched the 4A state championship with a 4-3 win over Piper at Mulvane Sports Complex, capping a remarkable turnaround from four winless seasons. Kansas replaces Eisenhower statue with George Washington Glick

The bronze Eisenhower statue arrived at the U S Capitol for an unprecedented swap in the National Statuary Hall Collection. Kansas will exchange the likeness of the 34th president for a marble statue of former governor George Washington Glick after approval by a Capitol art oversight joint committee.

Eisenhower Statue Unloaded as Glick Relocated to Topeka

Capitol officials and an aide to Tiahrt attended the unloading of the Eisenhower statue from a truck while the Glick statue was loaded for transport to the Statehouse in Topeka. Seaton Van Lines of Olathe provided the truck and driver. The unveiling is planned in the Capitol Rotunda on the eve of the 1944 D‑Day anniversary.

Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest Set For Saturday In Ottawa

Ottawa residents prepare for the Skunk Run Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest at Artist's Row in front of the Carnegie Cultural Center. Registration opens at 9 a.m., public voting runs 3:30 to 5 p.m., with two age groups eligible for prizes. Entry costs $2 for 10 and under and $3 for 11 to 14, chalk may be supplied or purchased.
