Public Accepts Park Fees in Kansas State System

Topeka AP reports public reaction to the Kansas state park permit program is largely positive. Lynn Burris notes first holiday weekend sales of about 3000 in permits at Turtle Creek and Kanapolis, with sales continuing at Pomona, Fall River Toronto and Cedar Bluff parks. By May 23 the authority had $37000 from permits, versus $43000 in all of 1964. The program, begun March 15 1964, aims to fund park operations, with a three day permit rising to 3 and annual at 5, while access through driving remains free.
