Vice President Al Gore planned a three hour Wichita stop to raise funds for Rep. Dan Glickman, filing for re election Tuesday.Two events were set an early evening $250 per person private reception and a later $25 per person rally.
State tax collections show a $26.1 million year to date ahead of estimates with a May inheritance tax payment of $20.4 million. Officials caution the rise stems from one-time estates and note income and sales tax results vary, as fiscal year 1994 ends June 30. Ottawa City Commission will hold a public hearing on its Capital Improvement Plan at 7 p.m. in City Hall. The plan proposes 850,000 for water, 850,000 for electric system, 525,000 for sewer improvements and up to 4.2 million for collector street development, depending on landowner consent for housing development.
Ottawa attorney Hendrix filed for the Republican nomination for insurance commissioner and challenged incumbent Ron Todd to a debate after paying an $844 filing fee. Todd, facing Dan Martinez and Doug Norman in the primary, says voters won’t hear much from a challenger. Winter Jr. filed for the Republican nomination for attorney general, joining Carla Stovall and state Sen.
