12000 Man Draft Call In August For Army

The Army requested a draft of 12,000 men in August, the largest monthly quota this year. This compares to 4,000 for June and 7,003 for July. The prior peak this year was 10,000 in April and May, with the rise possibly tied to replacements for men drafted during the Berlin crisis era, whose service would end in September.
