Israel threats widen as security actions target Palestinian areas
Israel warned it would send security forces into Palestinian ruled zones to arrest militants if Yasser Arafat fails to rein them in. The move follows a double bombing at Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem that killed 15 and injured over 150, prompting arrests, suspensions of peace talks, and calls for aid suspensions to the Palestinian Authority. Israel blasted Arafat while Hamas claimed responsibility, and tensions spiked as closures and arrests expanded across the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
