Paola plans bond schedule change to trim long-term costs
Paola residents face a mill levy rise from 37.34 to 37.79 mills as a 12 year bond plan for Main Street and storm sewer projects is cut to a 10 year schedule to fit a Main Street benefit district limit. Early payoff should reduce total interest despite higher annual levy. Spring Hill pool concerns prompt a citizen petition amid tests showing water safety. Gardner Council backs joining Wholesale Water District No. 5 after mayoral veto override. County fair entries and events outline a busy rodeo week with 4-H foods, queen crowning, a tractor contest, and livestock sales scheduled Aug 4–5.
