Irene Bertha Kennedy Topeka 93 formerly of Overbrook died July 28 2003. Funeral 7 p.m. Thursday at Overbrook United Methodist Church. Born March 4 1910 in Douglas County to Ernest and Rosa Kampschroeder. Active in local clubs. Burial Mount Hope Cemetery Topeka. Andrew J Mietchen 82 Ottawa died July 26 2003. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Built Ottawa Insulation later Andy's Siding. Survived by wife Vera and children several grandchildren and greats. Earl Kenneth Pennington 78 Rantoul died July 25 2003. Funeral at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Navy veteran, farmer, former postmaster and Rural Water District founder. Survived by daughters Judy and Janice and extended family. Burial Ruhamah Cemetery. Memorials to local churches or Ruhamah Baptist Church.

David Hecht of the U N S Sierra Leone war crimes court said the ex leader of the Revolutionary United Front Sankoh died with no cause disclosed. The group, founded in Libya, sparked a 1991 insurgency that prosecutors put at about 75 000 deaths.
