Dodgers Rally Past Brewers Tightens NL Pennant Race

Dodgers, led by Stan Williams, beat Milwaukee 7-3 at the Los Angeles Coliseum to move within two games of the Braves and five behind the Pirates. Williams earned his fifth straight win and an 11th in two years, with a stingy five-hit effort supported by Norm Larker and Joe Pignatano. Wellsville Methodist and Nazarene Assembly of God softball teams won easily in soggy Forest Park conditions. Nazarene jumped early to beat First Methodist in five innings 7 to 4. Wellsville Methodist then triumphed 15 to 3 over Ruhamah Union Chapel with ten hits and fifteen runs.

Wellsville, Nazarenes split two games in district action

Nazarenes Assembly scored in the first on a Nazarene error and hits to lead First Methodist 4 0 in the early game. Snethen pitched three innings of shutout ball for Wellsville before Wingert earned the win in the second game and Blackstone absorbed the loss for Ruhamah Union Chapel as Wellsville exploded with 13 runs in a late innings rally.
