RMH Uses Medicaid Funds to Bolster Finances and Plan Self Sufficiency

Ransom Memorial Hospital in Franklin County, a 55 bed county owned facility, has grown its reserve to 1.5 million and received nearly 800 thousand dollars in extra Medicaid funds funded by a longstanding half cent sales tax. The tax, approved in 1992 with a renewal and no sunset, supports expansion, equipment, and a second Main Street location while offsetting more than 2.3 million dollars in bad debt annually. Hospital leaders aim to phase off sales tax reliance via cautious budgeting and a possible endowment.
