Ottawa River Flood Levels Edge Toward Fall as Rain Eases
Ottawa public works director Andy Haney said river levels hovered near 33.1 feet after Friday noon, down from Thursday night’s crest of 33.9 feet, with a gradual fall expected unless more rain falls. Rain fell across Ottawa and surrounding areas, totaling about three quarters of an inch, while Melvern Lake recorded 1 047.78 feet and Wellsville saw about two thirds of an inch in an hour. Residents reported floodwater in streets and basements, with concerns about drainage from a blocked grate and runoff.
