NASCAR Hall of Fame takes shape before debut
In Charlotte the NASCAR Hall of Fame nears its May opening as the 130,000 square foot complex rises with the Glory Road display for Richard Petty’s No 43 Plymouth and an interactive, high tech history floor. Tim Newman and Winston Kelley guide a hard hat tour amid scaffolding and economic headwinds. The project costs 154.5 million, funded mainly by hotel tax, and aims to attract 800,000 visitors in year one despite broader sponsorship declines. Induction is expected for Petty, Earnhardt, and Bill France Sr with ceremonies linked to NASCAR events at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
