County Sacrifices Budget Rigors For 1984 Plans

Most departmental requests are capped at 4.25 percent, some operating cash is shifted to the general fund, and any shortages will be justified. Sheriff gains two full time officers and the county attorney adds a part time assistant and secretary. The panel refuses tax hikes that could raise crime or worsen roads, aims to preserve services, and will finalize figures after auditor Lemmon reviews bottom lines. Also approved is $912,500 in machinery for Public Works inventory and a $2,603 annual insurance premium for $1,000 deductible through Porter Spears & Bundy.
