83 Wheat Harvest One Of The Quickest
TOPEKA Kan AP 1983 wheat crop in Kansas is being harvested at a near record pace. As of Sunday 96 percent had been cut, up from 80 percent last year and above the 95 percent average. Most remaining harvest is in the northwest where just 7 percent is finished. Crop and Livestock Reporting Service notes excellent growth in spring planted row crops with five percent of corn at silk and some in central Kansas at dough stage. Sorghum begins to head in the southeast and soybeans are blooming statewide.
