Ladies Lead and Ladies Day at the Franklin County Fair
Franklin County Fair plans two women centered events for July 28. The Ladies Lead promotes sheep shows with wool garments worn by entrants aged under and over 17, judged on costume poise and presentation. Prizes awarded. entry by July 25 with contestant background and costume details. The Ladies Day program Sewings Fashions for the Home features Trudy Rice with demonstrations on fabric selection and sewing projects, door prizes included.

Eighty five 4-H'ers judged in home economics contest
In Elliott Hall the second of three judging events featured 85 participants split into 45 seniors and 40 juniors. Senior top scores ranged to 452 by Marie Chambers and 448 for Linda Teter with others listing in the 400s, while the junior leaders included Julie Ferguson with 341 and Stephen Schleicher at 336. The final judging contest is set for Friday at 2 p.m. at the Richmond Free Fair, after which state fair teams will be chosen based on age rules and top scores. the home economics team age requirement is 12.
