Franklin County farmers report a standout wheat harvest despite reduced acreage. Production may exceed last year with yields around 50 to 55 bushels per acre and some fields reaching 60 to 70. Prices, however, remain weak with sub $3 per bushel. Many farmers consider CC loans for marketing and holdouts unlikely. Soybeans remain the primary money crop with 65 000 to 70 000 acres planted.
