Heat wave kills 4300 turkeys in Kansas farm disaster
A brutal heat wave sweeping the Midwest and South has killed thousands of poultry. In Kansas a couple lost 4,300 turkeys after 26 hours of burying birds, while North Carolina saw about 50,000 chickens die when a power outage lasted under an hour. Hands-on effort saw workers digging a 60 by 40 by 10 foot trench to dispose of the birds. The Kansas agriculture division affirmed heat as the cause, not disease.
