Rudy Mullen a 52 year old Cusetta Georgia man who claimed indigence in court last week was charged with perjury after authorities seized about 2400 dollars from his van and found records suggesting as much as 300000 dollars in assets He faces a felony aggravated assault on a law officer charge from a July high speed chase plus open container DWI speeding disorderly conduct and eluding police Barker county attorney called him a mystery man noting German language financial records and a 1977 Ford van equipped with a burglar alarm and stove and his bond was set at 20000 dollars with the cash held as evidence for the perjury case

Fire swept a south Emporia home killing a 10 year old boy and his 81 year old grandfather. The grandmother died later in Kansas City Kansas while four relatives were injured including two in critical condition. The fire started near a living room chair and cause is undetermined.
