Kansas to get half of CETA funding under new JTPA plan
Kansas learns its 1982 Job Training Partnership Act allocation will be 16.5 million dollars, about half of the prior CETA funding, with programs shifting toward private sector training, on the job work, youth focus, and fewer funds for child care as the Oct 1 start approaches. Local private industry councils will design programs for five regions, while dislocated workers and summer youth programs receive targeted shares.

Cuts In Grain Price Supports Seems Likely
Washington AP reports the Reagan administration is expected to lower basic loan supports for next year's wheat and corn by about 10 percent. Deputy assistant secretary Ahalt cites weak demand from a worldwide recession and higher production abroad as reasons to reduce the rates to roughly 2.30 dollars per bushel for corn and 3.20 for wheat.
