Chalcedony Sculpture Hobby In New Mexico
Two New Mexico women, Mrs. Susan Meier of Hurley and Miss Marie Thomas of Silver City, create decorative chalcedony sculptures from local minerals. They describe identifying chalcedony, its varieties like carnelian and onyx, and how unusual, sometimes life-like shapes emerge from rocks found near copper mines. They collect pieces for personal keepsakes, rarely selling them.

Temporary Sleeping Bags From Shower Curtains
Heloise shares frugal child friendly camping hacks using old shower curtains or plastic garment bags to form temporary sleeping bags. Tips cover lacing edges, leaving space for easy entry, and keeping moisture out while conserving heat for backyard overnight adventures. Other quick ideas include selecting ripe watermelons by appearance, removing dirt from kids hair with a vacuum brush, packing soiled clothes in zippered bags with soap for fresh scent, and repurposing a discarded ice tray for baking peach cobbler with caution about residue.
