Mr and Mrs Frank B Roessner of Osawatomie filed a district court suit against Fred Spindle of Paola to quiet title to Franklin County land and void an oil and gas lease They say the February 1954 lease allowed Spindle to drill a well that was essentially dry and that he later faked production and underpaid royalties of 18 20 and 8 40 in 1957 The Roessners seek title quieting and lease nullification due to noncompliance with lease terms and lack of pumping or proper maintenance
Lawrence J. Gervais, 15, became the first juvenile to appear under the new law in Franklin County Juvenile Court. Cited by Ottawa Police for speeding 45 mph in a 430 mile zone and running a stop sign at 4th and Locust, he pleaded guilty in Juvenile Court. Judge Milo Harris fined him $10 and costs.
EMPORIA The Flint Hills Hereford and Kansas Livestock Assns announced plans for their seventh annual tour of the Flint Hills bluestem grazing from July 17 to 13. Storms include the Titus and Stout Ranch near Cattonwood Falls, the Wayne Regler and Me Calum ranches near Maifield Green, Myers Ranch near El Dorado, Augusta, Leon, Winfield and the Walnut Valley Ranch near Winfield.
On US 50 about 512 miles southwest of Ottawa two people were injured when Kenneth A. Dodds 17 Williamsburg struck Raymond F. Turner as Turner pulled onto the highway from a side road. Mrs Turner 66 suffered a broken arm chest injuries and two broken ribs while Mr Turner had a concussion and laceration of the left ear. Dodds and Turner were cited for failure to yield and for Dodds driving without a valid license.
City officials discussed revising the parking meter ordinance. Inquiries ask whether meters should run until 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and be removed on Saturdays due to Wednesday night store openings. Mayor Kenneth Andrews will study advisability and conduct inquiries. Gilbert Robe suggested creating more space on 1st Street near Main Street. the idea will be investigated for feasibility.

Births reported for Raymond Stanford of RFD 3 a daughter born Wednesday weight 6 lb 15 oz and Claude Sink of RFD 1 a daughter born today weight unknown. dismissals include Mrs. Dale Van Horn and baby son of RFD 1 Wellsville and Nila Lee Crawford of Grand View, Ma today.
Traffic toll report from Topeka Kansas lists accidents recorded by the State Accident Records Section. In the past 24 hours none, to date in 1957 two hundred fifty five, for the same period in 1956 three hundred twenty three.
Speeder Ivan Dale Thompson Jr. led a high speed chase across three counties before being nabbed near Perry. In court Monday he pleaded guilty to speeding at 110 mph, muffler defect, and suspended license, receiving a $150 fine and 30 days in jail. Multiple property transfers and bonds followed in unrelated notices.
City Attorney Douglas Gleason told Ottawa commissioners that the city is not legally liable for the death of Fred T. Birch, struck by a police car. He urged denying a $25,000 damages claim filed by Jay Todd, administrator of Birch’s estate, noting courts hold cities are not liable when acting in governmental capacity to suppress crime and maintain order.
