Firing shocks Royals players as Boone is ousted
ANSAS CITY Missouri AP. Kansas City players reacted with shock as Bob Boone was fired as Royals manager and replaced by Tony Muser. Catcher Mike Macfar lane, who formed a close bond with Boone, said the move stunned him while noting his own slumps and Boone’s 181 206 record over 2 1/2 years. Pitcher Chris Haney and reliever Larry Casian echoed surprise at the decision amid a poor season in which Kansas City sat among the league’s worst in wins. Macfarlane said he spoke with Boone since the news, expressing disbelief at the sudden change.
