South Main Project Plans Altered To Save Most Trees

City Manager Lyle Dresher told the Ottawa City Commission that 80 of 85 slated trees can be spared during the South Main improvement. The plan cuts sidewalk width to four feet to limit root damage and reduce costs, while redesigning the storm sewer to run partly under the curb and gutter, increasing engineering needs and contractor work limits around remaining trees.
