Rain Delays Ottawa Babe Ruth Playoffs to Single Elimination
A half inch of rain and a 20 percent chance weather forced postponement of first round games in the Ottawa Babe Ruth post season. Tonight’s schedule: Eagles versus Boys’ Club at 5, Kiwanis against Sertoma at 7, Rotary versus Lions at 9. The format shifts to single elimination with winners advancing to Tuesday games and the championship set for Wednesday.

Ottawan youths led by Kathy Hodges and Anne Maxwell win events in the girls 12 13 year old division with Hodges taking the 880 yard run in 2 23.8 and Maxwell the 440 in 1 13.0. Maxwell also places third in the standing long jump as other area results include Melvern and Osage participants in the 10 11 and 12 13 age groups. First place times will be compared regionally for Hershey Youth Nationals in Charleston West Virginia August 16 18.
