Red Sky at Morning review celebrates Bradford debut

Book review lauds Red Sky at Morning by Richard Bradford as a funny warm coming of age tale set in a New Mexico town during World War II. Josh Arnold, 17, lives with his neurotic mother while his shipbuilder father serves in the Navy. A lively cast including Chamaco the sheriff and Romeo the sculptor adds humor and humanity. The piece praises Bradford as a natural writer and notes the novel’s lasting appeal on rereading.
